Volunteers Are the Heart of the Sanctuary

There’s no way around it: Wigglestail cannot function without volunteers.

The daily work of caring for over 140 animals — dogs, pigs, cats, goats, sheep, horses, and a donkey — is constant, physical, emotional, and deeply human. And the team doing it is small.

Volunteers don’t just help.
They keep the animals fed.
They refill buckets before anyone gets dehydrated.
They clean, walk, scrub, lift, hold, calm, soothe, and show up.

They give the core team room to breathe. They give the animals new people to trust. They give the sanctuary a future.

🧡 August Is Coming and We’re Not Ready

From August 22 to 31, we’ll be at FATASIL, a 10-day event that’s incredibly important for outreach, adoptions, and visibility.

But as of now, we don’t have volunteers lined up for that week — and it’s the only stretch this summer with no one scheduled.

We need people who can:

  • Help us prepare animals and supplies
  • Be present at the event — supporting, educating, holding dogs
  • Keep things running at the sanctuary while part of the team is away

Minimum stay is one week.
If you can give that, we’ll guide you, support you, and make sure you know how much you matter.

🌿 This Work is Hard. And Worth It.

Volunteering here is not a fantasy of cuddling animals all day. It’s physical. Often Messy. But it’s also beautiful.
Because when volunteers show up — really show up — animals get more care, the core team: Jenny, Sofia, Kent can breathe. Things change.

Volunteers are not optional here.
They’re the difference between survival and proper care, between holding on and building something.

We need volunteers to help at the events like the one in August but we also need people to help with:

  • Cleaning, feeding, and animal care
  • Transport runs and emergency vet trips
  • Building, fixing, organising
  • Giving scared animals a calm presence

We especially value volunteers who can stay a week or longer — who want to learn, take responsibility, and be part of a real, messy, meaningful place.

And if you can’t come in person, but want to help build that:

🐾 Ready to step in?

If you’ve ever wanted to make a real difference — not just talk about it, but do it — this is your moment.

We’re looking for steady, compassionate people who aren’t afraid of hard work, mess, or heat — people who care more about impact than comfort.

If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.

Everything we do here is only possible because people like you choose to show up.
Wigglestail survives because of people like you.
And right now, we need you more than ever.
