🎉 Children’s Day at Wigglestail 🐾
📅 June 25 | 9:30–15:30
📍 Wigglestail Animal Sanctuary
Recap & What’s Next
On Wednesday, June 25, we opened our gates to a spirited crew of young volunteers (ages 12–18) for a hands‑on day of learning, caring, and connection!
THE GOAL? To spark empathy, responsibility, and joy — while giving these young people a glimpse into sanctuary life. ✨
What We Did
Together with Animal Help – Santa Bárbara, Frankie Foundation – Adoption Team & Puppy Fosters Of Portugal – the Algarve , and under the warm stewardship of our wonderful owners Sofia & Kent, our junior adventurers:
- 🔄 Rotated through animal care groups—helping to feed and groom over 100 residents, from playful cats and loyal dogs to curious goats, majestic horses, and cheeky pigs (who almost flattened me during feeding time!).
- 🎨 Joined creative craft sessions—making enrichment toys and homemade treats for the animals.
- 🐕 Heard real‑life rescue stories from Susan Martins of Santa Bárbara Animal Help, gaining firsthand insight into both the challenges and rewards of sanctuary life.
“Running a rescue like Wigglestail is seriously tough. The cost of food, vet bills, and finding homes for these animals adds up fast. These people give everything to keep it going.”
Why Your Support Matters
Keeping Wigglestail—and partners like Santa Bárbara Animal Help—running takes constant dedication and resources:
- Food & supplies: Hundreds of kilos of feed each week
- Veterinary care: Routine checkups, emergency surgeries, and vaccinations
- Rehoming efforts: Screening, transport, and post‑adoption support
Every contribution helps us give these animals the care and second chances they deserve.
