Support the People Behind Wigglestail
Wigglestail Animal Sanctuary is home to over 140 rescued animals — including dogs, pigs, cats, goats, sheep, horses, and a donkey. Every single one has a story. Every single one relies on us to feel safe, fed, and cared for.
But the truth is: this sanctuary is being held up by a tiny team that’s stretched to the limit.
The People Holding It All Together
- Sofia keeps everything running behind the scenes — from adoptions and vet coordination to admin, fundraising, and communication.
- Kent helps with rescues, building, transport, and emergencies — and feeds the farm animals twice a day. On Jenny’s two days off, he covers the entire sanctuary alone.
- Jenny is on-site five days a week and handles the day-to-day animal care: feeding, cleaning, medical treatments, socialisation, emergencies, and more. She does it with heart and grit — but she’s only one person, and the load is immense.
There are no backup staff. No second shift. No safety net.

They are all doing too much.
And they are all just one crisis away from burnout.

We’re Trying to Build a Team Around Them
This summer, we’re fundraising to hire a full-time animal carer – an extra pair of hands — someone who can step in, help with daily care, and give the core team the breathing room they urgently need.
But this is just the first step.
We’re also working to:
- Hire a full-time animal carer to support Jenny now and through the autumn.
- Hire a part-time animal carer to support Kent with maintenance, transport, and emergency response.
- Invite more reliable, long-term volunteers by updating facilities and creating better structures to support people who can stay for at least two weeks — the kind of help that makes a real difference.
The Situation Is Serious
Right now, we’re caring for over 140 animals:
around 56 dogs, 16 cats, 50 pigs, 13 goats, 13 sheep, 2 horses, and one strong-willed donkey.
Each one needs daily feeding, clean water, medical attention, and a safe environment. That means:
- Checking and refilling water bowls every 2–3 hours in the summer heat
- Cleaning, lifting, repairing, and responding to unexpected needs
- Managing behaviour, trauma recovery, and medical routines
- And keeping everyone cool, calm, and safe — day after day
The animals depend on a very small number of people showing up consistently, no matter how hot or tired they are. And that’s becoming harder to sustain.
This isn’t just about being busy — it’s about reaching a point where the current team can’t keep doing it alone without burning out.
🐾 How You Can Help
